Quick Help

First Launch

  1. Open TemClean (also lives in the menu bar).
  2. If you see that access is needed, click Grant Access — Allow Library (Recommended) and select ~/Library (or your Home folder to cover all) → Allow.
  3. Click Scan → preview what was found → select items → Clean Selected (moves to Trash).

Grant Access

The app only reads folders you allow via the system folder picker. Allowing ~/Library covers most items at once.

  • Grant All (Recommended): Use the top banner to allow ~/Library.
  • Per-folder: If a single category shows it needs access, tap Grant Access on that row and choose the folder (or its parent).
  • Folder not found — nothing to clean: Normal if a folder (like Downloads temp or Xcode data) doesn't exist yet. No action needed.
  • Access needed again: If you moved or renamed your Library, just grant access again.

Scan & Clean

  • Top bar: Shows free space and a usage bar.
  • System Data Breakdown: Tap to see sizes by category (Caches, Logs, Developer files, Trash, etc.). Clean Safe removes only safe items like caches/logs/trash.
  • Targets: Expand rows to see files, toggle per file. You can select all, deselect all, or select older items.
  • Estimates: Shows total found, last cleaned amount, and selected for deletion.
  • Largest files: Use Find Largest to see the biggest items in your Library with an option to reveal in Finder.

The menu bar shows free space. Click it to see a summary, refresh, and quick actions to open the main app or About. Purchases are completed in the main app window.

Schedule

In Schedule, you can enable automatic scans and choose how often they run. Automatic scans run only while the app is open.

FAQ

Is deletion permanent? No. Items go to Trash and can be recovered until you empty Trash.

Does it touch system files? No. Only files in your home folder that you have allowed.

Can I clean Homebrew or development caches? Caches under ~/Library/Caches (including Homebrew) are shown as Caches. Safe to remove — they will be recreated as needed.

What about APFS snapshots? Shown as Snapshots. We provide a helper to copy a safe cleanup command for Terminal if needed.

Privacy? See privacy policy — no tracking, no data collected, everything stays on your device and purchases are handled by Apple.
